Get your MAC Address
Your wireless network card has a unique identifier called a Media Access Control
address, or MAC address. This string of 12 numbers and letters looks something
like this:
MAC Address example: 00-C0-4F-68-89-D6
The easiest way to find this unique number is to look either directly on the card or in the card's documentation. If you have an internal wireless card, and do not have the documentation for it, you may use your computer's operating system to find it.
In Windows XP or Windows 2000:
- Select Start > Run. A Run window appears.
Type in command
- Click "OK."
- At the text prompt, type in ipconfig
/all
- In the list that appears, look for the heading
for your wireless card. Where the results say "Physical Address," that
is the MAC address.
In Mac OS X:
- Click the Apple Menu in the upper left.
- Select "About This Mac."
- Click the "More Info" button.
- Apple System Profiler will launch. Under "Network," it should list "Airport."
- Under "Airport," your MAC address will be near the bottom, labeled as "MAC Address."
